Dr Jeremy Rawlins in private practice:

About

"I was brought up in the UK and USA, and completed my undergraduate medical degree in Leeds, where I was awarded Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours. I then undertook basic surgical training in Yorkshire and Queensland.

Before specialist training, I completed a Master of Philosophy at the University of Bradford, with research focused on scars. That interest in scars, wounds and reconstruction has stayed with me throughout my career.

I continue to be involved in public hospital work, private practice, research and teaching here in Perth. For me, good plastic surgery starts with careful listening, clear communication and a thoughtful plan for each person."

Research, Training and Contribution

Dr Rawlins works as a specialist plastic surgeon at Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and sees his private patients at St John of God Murdoch Hospital. In October 2019, Dr Rawlins was appointed Head of Department of Plastic Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital.

His specialist interest areas include burns reconstruction, hand trauma, complex lower limb trauma, and facial trauma. His elective specialist interests include skin cancer (and melanoma), head and neck / craniomaxillofacial reconstruction, abdominal wall and perineal reconstruction, scar revision, and the full remit of cosmetic surgery including common procedures such as breast augmentation, abdominoplasty and facelifts.

Dr Rawlins has a particular interest in reconstructive microsurgery and the use of ‘free flaps’ and ‘perforator flaps’ in his plastic surgery practice.

Dr Rawlins trains other surgeons in Perth and around the world. One of his ways to contribute to the plastic surgery community is to train surgeons in Tanzania - something he has been doing for ten years. In this way his knowledge and skills are passed on to colleagues across Tanzania and beyond.

The importance of communication

Dr Rawlins takes a tailored approach to every plastic surgery procedure. He listens carefully to understand your concerns and expectations, and communicates clearly to help you make informed choices about your treatment.

Plastic and cosmetic procedures are not one-size-fits-all. Your goals and preferences guide every step of the consultation and planning. Patients appreciate his open communication and professional focus on ethics in all aspects of care.
